FAQs
What is improv, anyway?
In short, improv is the art of making things up as you go along. Yes, really! It may sound scary at first, but think about it: we improvise every day of our lives and pretending to play a pirate or an orchestra conductor is no different.
Why do people like it?
Improv is incredibly fun and laughing is good for us. But whether or not you or your child or teen wants to get onstage and play oddball characters, there are many benefits that will improve your day-to-day life, including learning:
-
Being present in the moment
-
Listening & discovery
-
Teamwork & camaraderie
-
Confidence
-
Unconditional support of yourself & others
-
Connection to other
-
Accepting mistakes
-
Self-compassion & self-acceptance
-
Accepting constructive criticism (i.e. taking a note)
Improv is also wonderful for socializing and mental health.
What if someone is scared?
That’s understandable! We get it because we were there once. Anything outside our comfort zone can feel frightening. But that’s why our instructors provide a fun, supportive vibe that not only makes people forget their stage fears, but cultivate a similar fearlessness offstage.
Is improv for my me (or my kid)?
Most definitely yes! Improv helps a person (no matter their age) build confidence in themselves and their ideas, find camaraderie and support through teamwork, and learn that there are not mistakes, there’s only how we handle them. BONUS: All classes are screen free.

Answer: Every last one of these funny people started out as an improviser.
What if I'm interested in classes, but not performing?
We get it! No one is required to perform to take classes. They are free to cheer their fellow players on from the audience. Maybe they’ll decide the stage is for them later, or maybe not. Either is completely fine and supported.
Are there classes for adults?
Yes! We offer longform improv classes for beginning and experienced players (which is focused on character development and scenes), as well as community events and jams for adults. Check out the adult class offerings on our registration page.
